
Located on the first floor of Malaga’s Tabacaler (the former tobacco factory) a building which also houses the Museo Automovilístico (car museum), the 7,500 square metre gallery has been inaugurated with an inclusive collection of Russian art from five centuries, titled “Arte Ruso. The museum displays works by Ilya Repin, Wassily Kandinsky and Vladimir Tatlin. De los iconos al siglo XX” (“From icons to the twentieth century”) and a temporary exhibition of artworks centring on the creator of the Ballets Russes, Sergei Diaghilev, and called “La época de Diaghilev” (“The era of Diaghilev”).

The Spanish prime Minister Mr Rajoy opens the new Pompidou Museum in Malaga.
This event occurred the 4th of April with the participation of the French Minister of Culture Mrs Fleur Pellerin; Mr Francisco de la Torre the Mair of Malaga and Mr Alain Seban the CEO of the Pompidou centre in Paris. This new Museum is located in the harbour of Malaga, the place is well know as "The Cube", at "Muelle Uno" the exposition consist of ninety artwork from the 20 and 21 century. You will see : Willem De Kooning, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Jean Hélion,Tony Ouster, Frida Khalo, Francis Bacon, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Alberto Giacometti, Sophie Calle.. etc.. The centrepiece is "the Ghost" by French Artist Kader Atia which consist of 150 Aluminium foil empty figures. For Malaga it's one of the great cultural event for 2015. In 2009, the Foundation Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso that owned the collection merged with the Foundation Museum Picasso Malaga that operated also the museum and the Casa Natal "Birthplace Museum" in the "Plaza de la Merced".
